What is Reiki ? Reiki is an ancient Japanese system of natural healing & self-empowerment which was rediscovered in the 19th century by the Japanese Physician Mikao Usui. The word Reiki (ray-key) is derived from the Japanese word "Rei" meaning universal higher power and "Ki" meaning life force energy.
What does Reiki do? Reiki promotes physical health, mental clarity and emotional well-being by reducing stress and enhancing relaxation. It has been proven that people are most susceptible to illness when their energy is low or depleted. Reiki restores and balances that energy to assist in healing and preventing illnesses or diseases.
How does it work? Reiki is administered by the laying-on-of-hands either by direct gentle touch or by working on the outer auric energy levels. The client is fully clothed and may be seated in a chair or may lay down on a Reiki/Massage table for comfort and easy access to all of the hand positions. The energy is drawn by intention, in through the Reiki practitioner and out to the recipient. The energy will naturally flow to the areas which are in the most need. It can be performed on oneself, family, friends & all forms of life, including pets.
How does it feel? During a Reiki treatment, the first sensation is usually that of heat coming from the practitioner's hands. One may also feel tingling sensations, currents flowing or a magnetic pull. Sometimes there are emotional releases that come to the surface to be healed. Some may fall asleep. Overall the most common experience is that of feeling very peaceful & completely relaxed.
Why use Reiki? Reiki has been used for health maintenance, disease prevention, and as a healing art for centuries. Reiki is an excellent adjunctive to physical therapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, nursing and other forms of treatment which require the use of touch. Anyone can learn this valuable life-enhancing technique.
* Reiki is not a religion nor does it replace conventional medical or psychological treatment when required or advised.
